We’ll pick you up from your hotel for an early morning walk through Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, situated on Table Mountain’s eastern slopes. Kirstenbosch is among the world’s top seven botanical gardens, showcasing the incredible plant diversity unique to southern Africa.
You’ll have several hours to explore both the carefully maintained formal areas and natural habitats. Keep an eye out for key bird species like:
- Cape Sugarbird
- Orange-breasted Sunbird
- Cape Batis
- Forest Canary
- African Paradise Flycatcher
- Spotted Eagle-owl
- Forest Buzzard
After a relaxing picnic lunch on the garden lawns, we’ll head to Strandfontein on the Cape Flats, a popular spot for water birds. Here, we’ll do some easy birding, mostly from our vehicle. We hope to see:
- Great White Pelican
- African Marsh Harrier
- African Fish Eagle
- Greater and Lesser Flamingos
- Various waterfowl species
To end the day, we’ll drive back into Cape Town and return you to your hotel.
This tour offers a perfect mix of plant and bird diversity, from mountain slopes to wetlands, all in one day!
