Wild Zimbabwe: Birds & Wildlife

All The Best Bits of Zimbabwe Rolled Into One

Wild Zimbabwe: Birds & Wildlife

per person

On this birding and big mammal safari, you’ll visit Zimbabwe’s main birding and wildlife locations — beginning at the breathtaking Mana Pools National Park, followed by a visit to the majestic Victoria Falls (recognised as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World), and concluding at the unparalleled Hwange National Park.

Zimbabwe unquestionably stands out as one of Africa’s most captivating countries, with its diverse array of exceptional game parks and natural marvels. This tour has been meticulously designed to showcase Zimbabwe’s natural splendor in its entirety. Expect to encounter a diverse range of bird species, complemented by impressive big game, as we leisurely explore each destination, ensuring a thorough appreciation of these remarkable landscapes.

Bird count:

Over 400.

Pace:

Slow/medium

Tour difficulty:

Easy – few long drives, that’s it.

When to visit:

Although the birding is outstanding all year round, the very best birding in Zimbabwe occurs during the rainy season from October to March. Abundant food sources, the presence of migrants, and many species adorned in breeding plumage render this period ideal for visitors. However, it’s important to note that some safari lodges close during November, reopening in April.

Sustainability:

Wild Birding designs birding and wildlife holidays that support conservation, empower local communities, and tread lightly. We work exclusively with trusted local guides and conservation-minded lodges, avoid crowded circuits, and keep group sizes small to minimise our impact. We actively encourage guests to take part in citizen science through eBird, and we’ve partnered with Sustainable Travel to offer optional carbon offsetting and direct support for local conservation projects.

Price:

Our tailor-made birding tours are custom-designed for each client, making standard pricing difficult. Costs vary based on factors like accommodation, group size, duration, and specific locations. For a personalised quote that matches your taste and budget, please contact us with your requirements.

As an example, this Wild Zimbabwe: Birds & wildlife costs £8,200 per person, based on a group of 6 individuals staying in top-end mid-range safari lodges with shared twin rooms.
